Abstract

This article examines: 'Reconstructing the Application of the Islamic Economic System in Java Using a Phenomenological Approach'. The author conducted a study on tracing the application of the Islamic economic system which has been practiced in Muslim communities in Java. Meanwhile, the Muslim community itself does not understand and comprehend what has been practiced relating to transactions (aqad-aqad) of joint ventures, buying and selling or other things that are in accordance or not in accordance with the Islamic Economic System, because they have applied those transactions. following the ancestors who have been practicing it for years. Therefore, the author has conducted research among Muslim communities in Java using a phenomenological approach. The results of the research show that transactions (aqad-aqad) that have been applied to Muslim communities in Java include: "paroan (profit sharing), mertelu (one-third profit sharing), Lanja (renting), nkontrak (renting), nitip (wadiah), social gathering (ta'aun) and pawning. It turns out that all transactions are part of the Islamic economic system. Even though textually it doesn't really appear that it is part of the Islamic economic system, substantially (contextually) after being reconstructed it turns out that it is part of the Islamic economic system. However, there is one aqad that has experienced a shift in value, namely there are indications that it is leading to a ribawi transaction in its application, namely pawning (rahn).
